You are charged by the job and not by the hour, so there’s no additional cost.
Electric hot water systems
Electric hot water systems are popular because they can be installed in any home, regardless of whether or not you have a natural gas supply. Electric hot water repairs and maintenance are easy to manage, cheaper to install than other system alternatives and often take up less space as a whole system. If running out of hot water is a concern for you, electric hot water systems are a great option.
Gas hot water system installation
Gas hot water systems require a natural gas connection to your home and have a higher initial installation cost when compared to electric hot water systems. However, once your gas hot water system installation is up and running, gas-heated water has many benefits. The day-to-day running costs of gas hot water systems are generally cheaper, and they are the faster option for rapid heating and have higher recovery rates.
A gas option means you’ll have hot water even during a power outage, and you won’t be charged a higher rate for using hot water during peak times. Because of this, gas water heater systems are a popular choice for larger families and households.

Instant Hot Water System Efficiency
Instant hot water heaters provide hot water only as it is needed. They don’t produce the standby energy losses associated with storage water heaters, which can save you money. Storage tank water heaters continuously heat water to keep a full store at the ready. That means you’re paying to have hot water whether you need it or not. Typically tankless water heaters take 10 to 20 seconds longer to get hot water to the fixtures which mean there will be water flowing till the hot water reaches the tap.

When was my Hot Water System manufactured?
Tempering valves are mandatory for all Hot Water Systems within NSW
Hot water systems that are 60oC must have the temperature reduced to prevent scalding. The role of the tempering valve is to reduce the risk of burning/scalding by mixing the hot water with cold water to 50oC.
As of May 2021, Fair Trading NSW require tempering valves be installed on all new hot water system installations.
